The classic Palm and Bee designs on these elegant sterling silver and mastodon ivory pendants, are scrimshawed by hand; no two are alike; each is signed by renowned American folk artist Sam McDowell.

The 'Palm' pendant features the Royal Palm tree, Mr. McDowell's favorite tree. Tall and aristocratic, the Royal Palm is an emblem of the Caribbean, where it flourishes.

The 'Queen Bee' found on the Bee pendant, is another of Mr. McDowell's favorite images, and can be traced -as a symbol of health and love- thru art and literature as far back as dynastic Egypt.

Mr. McDowell has been producing a limited amount of Palm and Bee pendants since 1959. Initially created for friends in Princeton, NJ., an enduring word of mouth following has made the Palm and Bee pendants quietly popular ever since whether as Christmas, wedding, birthday, or Valentine presents, or for any occasion that warrants a special gift. Pendants measure 1.125 inches in height by .75" in width, and are typically worn on a chain around the neck or on bracelets, as an individual, classically understated piece of jewelry.
